fiat - noun - an arbitrary or authoritative command or order; formal or official authorization or sanction
Arbitrary -or- authoritative? That combination seems odd. Besides, isn't this just a small red car? -wink-

If you haven't read Walter M. Miller's 1959 novel A CANTICLE FOR LEIBOWITZ you'e missed out on one of the greatest science fiction novels of the 20th Century. It takes place long after an atomic war that has destroyed civilization, and follows the monastic Order of Saint Leibowitz from the new Dark Ages to modernity. Your word made me think of it, because the lovel is divided into three parts: Fiat Lux (Let There Be Light), Fiat Homo (Let There Be Man), and Fiat Voluntas Tua (Let Thy Will Be Done). Highly recommended. (By the way, the translations aren't meant to be condescending; I just don't expect everybody to share my enthusiasm for dead languages!)
where would I find a copy? do you think the library would have it?
I just checked. The OKC library has six copies at various branches. My own copy has gone lost on one of my many moves, or I'd lend it to you via Brad. (Why do movers always manage to lose a case or two of books?)
